Obituary of Darryl Ethel Burkey

Darryl Ethel Burkey, 82, Whitewater passed away at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.

Darryl was born on July 2, 1939 in Chicago, IL to Adin and Ethel (Wacholtz) Hopballe.  She married Henry Burkey on March 2, 1985.  Darryl retired from Trostel Limited in Lake Geneva, WI.  She enjoyed boating, waterskiing, playing bingo and cards with the girls at Blackhawk Manor.  Darryl loved crocheting, cooking and was a perfect homemaker. Darryl and Henry enjoyed camping at the Bark River Campground with all their friends.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years Henry of Whitewater; children: Victoria (Dan) Harjung, Whitewater, Brenda Lee (Ricky) Weaver, Elgin, IL, Donna DuPree, Elgin, IL, and Daniel DuPree, Elgin, IL; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Robert and Kenneth Hopballe, Gloria Miller; step-sons: Thomas and Ronald DuPree.

A Celebration of Darryl’s life will be held in the spring of 2022.
