Obituary of John J. Daniels

John J DANIELS JR, age 88, of Whitewater, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2010, at the Alden Estates of Countryside, in Jefferson, WI. John was born in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin on November 28, 1921, the son of John and Nellie (Hake) Daniels Sr. During high school, John was a four year letter winner in football and then played three years for the Delavan Red Devils semi-pro football team. On March 13, 1948, he married Lee Bruch in Dubuque, Iowa. John owned and operated John Daniels Builder for 60 years, building many homes in the Whitewater area and around Southern Wisconsin. He built the first building in the Whitewater Industrial Park. John stayed active in his retirement, and continued to help his son who carried on the family business. John was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Whitewater. For 36 years he served on the Whitewater Fire Department Company #3. Surviving are: Wife: Lee Daniels, Whitewater, WI, Daughter: Marylee (Robert) Kantin, Park City, UT, Son: Robert John Daniels, Whitewater, WI, Nephews: Lawrence (Carol) Entress, Cedarburg, WI, Gary Entress, Texas and other nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, and half brothers: Emil, Warren, Harlow, and Walter Entress. Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 30, 2010, at 11:00AM at the Nitardy Funeral Home Chapel, 550 N. Newcomb Street, Whitewater, Wisconsin with Rev. Jonathan Rossman officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, in Whitewater, Wisconsin. Friends may call after 10:00AM on Friday at the Nitardy Funeral Home, Whitewater until the services.
