Obituary of Lawrence Charles Cook

Lawrence Charles COOK, age 86, of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2010, at Wellington Meadows, in Fort Atkinson. Lawrence was born in West St. Paul, Minnesota on August 28, 1923, the son of Paul David and Eleanor Pauline (Mueller) Cook. He graduated from High School in Osceola, WI in 1941. He married Estella Helen Dowell on October 21, 1945 in Wauconda, Illinois. Estella preceded him in death on September 20, 2007. Lawrence had farmed all his life, beginning in Illinois and then in 1961 moving to Fort Atkinson to buy a farm on Carnes Road. In 2007, Lawrence turned the running of the farm over to his son, Alan. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fort Atkinson, the Fort Rural Life Association, the Farm Bureau of Jefferson County, serving as a director and the Pure Milk Association since 1952. Lawrence enjoyed going dancing with his wife and singing. �Surviving are: Son: Charles D. (Patricia) Cook, Sun Prairie, WI, Daughter: Helen E. (Jerry) Turbeville, Calhoun, GA, Son: Alan B. (Steve) Barlow, Lake Mills, WI, Grandchildren: Christopher (Beth) Cook, Andrew (Jessica) Cook, Katherine (Ryan) Krause, Cariann (Michael Goldsby) Turbeville, Brian (Mary Jo) Turbeville, Mark (Dustine) Turbeville, Kylene (Mark) Anderson, Greg Cook, Stephanie Cook, Kimberly Barlow, and Joel Barlow, Great-grandchildren: Emma, Alexander, Merrigan, and Piper Cook, Clare and Jack Krause, Brandin Poppler, Blake, Emily and Lindsey Turbeville, Addison (Barlow) Johnson, and Isabelle Anderson. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Estella, a daughter Barbara Sue Cook, a sister Phyllis Crimmins and brothers: Herbert and Earl Cook. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at 11:00AM at the First United Methodist Church, Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin with Rev. John W. Wells officiating. Inurnment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Friends may call from 5-7PM on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at Nitardy Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson and after 10AM on Wednesday at the church until the services.
