Obituary of Charles Barney Snodie

Charles �Chuck� �Bud� Barney SNODIE, age 84, of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at his home. Charles was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin on June 19, 1925, the son of Barney W. and Mary (Hartman) Snodie. Chuck served his country as a sergeant in the US Army during WWII. On September 21, 1946, Chuck married Delores M. Lenz in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, Delores preceded him in death on September 16, 2009. Chuck was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Paul Frank Florine American Legion Post #166 of Fort Atkinson and the Fort Atkinson VFW Post #1879. After his time in the service, Charles drove milk truck, worked at the Chevy garage and drove truck for Fort Transportation, retiring on March 1, 1986 after 35 years of service there. He was an avid ice fisherman, he attended most every Fort Generals games and enjoyed hunting, playing cards and watching football games. Mostly he enjoyed his �bull sessions� at Broms and his morning coffee with his friends at Soups On. �Surviving are: Two Daughters: Beverly Helle, Jefferson, WI, and Barbara (Bob) Werner, Sun City, AZ, Grandchildren: Debbie (Don McDermott) Miller, Fort Atkinson, WI, James (Ava) O'Neil, Jefferson, WI, and Dana Rusch, Fort Atkinson, WI, Great-Grandchildren: Michelle Miller, Karolina O'Neil, and Cade and Luke Rusch, Sister: Evelyn Riedl, Sister in-law: Gladys Snodie and his loyal companion Chico. He is further survived by many nieces, and nephews and special friends: the Brom family and Rick. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Delores, a son David, and a daughter Kimberly, brothers: Art, William, and Bernerd Snodie, sisters: Marion Riedl and June Shockley, and son-in-law Ron �Muff� Helle. Memorial Services will be held Monday, February 15, 2010, at 12:30PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Fort Atkinson with Rev. Bryan Engfer officiating. Inurnment with military rites will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Friends may call after 10AM on Monday at the church until the services.
